Can I Use a Night Cream During the Day

Can I Use a Night Cream During the Day | The Ultimate Guide

Day creams and night creams are differentiated by their nature, ingredients, and goal. So, if you want to get the maximum benefit from the creams, you shouldn’t use those altering the time.

This is the common statement about using a night cream during the day. But why shouldn’t we dig deeper and find out the exact reasons behind this statement?

So, if you’re searching for the answer to the question in the title and the reasons behind it, welcome to my article. I was interested in it too and now I’m going to share what I’ve found.

Can I Use a Night Cream during the Day?

You already know the common answer that you shouldn’t use your night cream during the day. But here are the reasons.

The answer lies subtly in what a day cream and a night cream do. Let’s know about it first.

The main focus of day cream is protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. That’s why these creams come with a high SPF. Besides protecting from the sun rays, day cream also protects your skin from pollutions. Also, it nourishes and moisturizes your skin and boosts your skin health.

So, basically, a day cream ensures protection.

On the other hand, the main focus of a night cream is aiding in the natural restoring process of your skin. After the fight with the sun and pollution, the outer layer of your skin gets damaged. Night cream comes with ingredients that boost up the repairing process.

So, you can see that a night cream ensures repairing benefits.

Now you may know the reason why you shouldn’t apply a night cream when it is daytime.

When you use a night cream during the day, it can’t protect your face from pollution and harmful rays of the sun as it has zero or low SPF properties. During the daytime, you need protection which can’t be ensured by a night cream. So, you shouldn’t do this.

Another reason behind not doing this is the texture of the cream.

Day creams come with a comparatively light texture that blends into your skin easily. As a result, you don’t feel uneasy. Also, your skin doesn’t look too shiny.

But night creams are comparatively thicker. So, when you apply these to your face, they may leave a greasy feel on your face. Also, your skin looks shiny.

I bet you don’t want to feel like someone whose face shines bright in the sun. That’s why you should avoid using a night cream in daylight.

I am not saying you can never use a night cream under the sun. I’m just telling you that if you do so, you won’t get the expected benefit that you need. It’ll nourish your skin and provide moisture. But the protection you need won’t be there.

Should You Use both Creams

Should You Use both Creams?

With this, I’m going to answer a common question. Some people ask why we should use both of these or why we can’t avoid using night cream.

If you have the same question in mind, I guess you’ve got the answer.

The main reason behind using both is- the purposes of these two are different and one can’t serve the purpose of the other one. If you want protection, you’ll have to use a day cream. The night cream is for repair.

If you think that you don’t need support in repairing your facial barrier (the outer part of your facial skin), you can avoid night cream. But if you go through an exhausting environment with harsh sun and extreme pollution, you need it. Otherwise, you’ll see fine lines and wrinkles on your face.

Now the decision is up to you.

Final Verdict

You can sometimes use your night cream when it is daytime. But you shouldn’t replace your day cream with a night cream. Doing this won’t bring many benefits for you.

The good news for you is you’ll find some good day & night cream in the market which you can use in both daytime and night. Picking up one of those can help you to stay on the safe side.
