If you asked how many eyeshadow palettes a person can buy, the answer would be easier. If anyone wants and can, she can buy all types of eyeshadow palettes available in the market.
But when it is about the ‘need’, answering this question is a bit difficult. The correct response to this question is- it depends.
In my case, I always focus on having a number of makeups that I can use. I don’t want to just buy things and throw them away without using them. Also, I don’t want to face a shortage of makeup on any occasion.
In the case of eyeshadow palettes, things are similar. I like to have a moderate number of palettes so that I can use those without wasting but don’t feel that I’m short of eyeshadow.
If you want the same, having around 10 palettes is enough, though I have 15 right now.
While picking up eyeshadow palettes, you should divide depending on a few criteria. Confused? Let me make it clear.
You should have some expensive or high-end eyeshadow palettes. These palettes are mainly for special occasions. Depending on how you dress up on your special occasions, you can pick 2-3 expensive palettes.
Besides expensive ones, you might have to have some regular and budget-friendly palettes for regular use. Also, you can pick a few from this category for experimenting with your eye makeup. I suggest having 5-6 of this type.
Also, you should pick some limited edition palettes. Those enrich your collection. If you’re not in love with collecting, going for 1-2 limited edition palettes is okay.
But if you love to collect these, that is another issue. You can go for as many as you can to enrich your eyeshadow collection.
What I’ve wanted to say is that having around ten eyeshadow palettes is good for someone. But going for more won’t be a problem and having less than ten won’t hurt you.

Eyeshadow is an important part of your eye makeup. Having variety allows you to experiment and find out the best looks.
But if you don’t have a variety of eyeshadow palettes, don’t worry. If you pick wisely, having only two palettes is good to go. It depends on a good balance between choice, affordability, and usage.
Also, if you have more than ten, no one is blaming you for that. I have around fifteen more. So, if you love to collect these, have as many as you can. You can even buy eyeshadow palettes to make your closets full, none is going to bother you.
