How to Make Lash Shampoo

How to Make Lash Shampoo – Why Should You Clean Your Lashes

Lash Shampoo is a gentle shampoo that allows you to clean your eyelashes and eyelash extensions to remove dirt and makeup from those. Also, a lash shampoo ensures protection from bacterial build-up on the eye areas caused by makeup.

You’ll find a lot of lash shampoos and cleansers in the market. You can use those. Or if you want, you can make your own. Below is the common way of making lash shampoo at home.

How to Make Lash Shampoo at home

Making lash shampoo at home is very easy. For this, you’ll need a few things-

  • Baby shampoo (1 tablespoon)
  • Baking soda (1 teaspoon)
  • Distilled water
  • A foam pump bottle

If you have all of these, you start the process. The step-by-step process is given below.

Step 1- Pour 1 tablespoon of baby shampoo in the bottle and then add 1 teaspoon of baking soda.

Step 2- Add distilled water.

Step 3- Close the lid and shake the bottle. Keep shaking it until everything mixes together. If it takes too much time, add some more distilled water.

This is the most common way of making lash shampoo.

But, you know what? You should know a few things before making lash shampoo at home.

What to Know before using Home-made Lash Shampoo

I suggest not using a homemade lash shampoo for cleaning your natural lash. In the case of the eyelash extension, using it is okay. But try to avoid it to clean your natural lash. The reasons are-

  • It contains baby shampoo. Baby shampoos come with oil and glycol. These ingredients make the lash break down and cause premature fall of natural lashes.
  • Baby shampoos can’t kill and prevent bacteria effectively. So, using it to clean your natural lash won’t be that effective.

So, if you make the homemade lash shampoo for cleansing your extended lash, you can go for it. But I don’t recommend using it to cleanse your natural lash.

Pick an effective lash shampoo from a dependable brand to clean natural lashes.

Focus on the ways to take care of your natural eyelash to pamper your natural eyelashes properly.

Why Should You Clean Your Lashes Properly?

Why Should You Clean Your Lashes Properly

You may wonder about the necessity of putting extra effort into cleaning your eyelash even after using so many cleansing products on your face.

This was my question too when I first came to know about lash shampoo. Slowly I could realize that emphasizing caring for your lash is needed. Below are the reasons.

  • To avoid Bacteria Build-up

While applying makeup products, those get accumulated around your eyelashes. These cause bacteria build-up around your eyes if not cleared properly. As a result, you may have to suffer from eye-itching and other similar eye problems.

So, you should clean your lashes properly to stay away from such diseases.

  • To protect your eyes

Lashes are meant to catch debris and keep your eyes protected. When these are not clean enough, they can’t catch the debris. As a result, your eyes will be unprotected.

Similarly, lashes protect the eyes from infections. When those are not clean, instead of protecting against infection, these cause infection. So, you should keep the lashes clean to protect your eyes from debris and infections.

  • To maintain the growth of natural lashes

Makeup products and natural elements dry the skin around the eye. As a result, the lashes don’t get enough nutrients to grow properly.

When you clean the lashes with a lash shampoo, it ensures proper nourishment and nutrients to maintain the natural growth of your lashes.

  • To keep your lash extensions long-lasting

Cleaning the lash extensions is also important if you want those to last long. Keeping the lash clean ensures a stronger glue bond. As a result, you can use it for a long time.

Cleaning your lash extensions ensures other benefits like protecting from debris and infection, preventing bacteria build-up, and reducing the chance of eye problems.

So, you should keep both your natural lashes and lash extensions clean.

Final Verdict

It is very easy to prepare a homemade lash shampoo. But don’t use it for your natural lashes. It is always better to go for a lash shampoo or cleanser from a dependable brand.
